Fresh Eating this January
During the month of January we introduced an added range of healthy and nutritious main meals, to supplement the focus on “fresh, homecooked” food.
Similar to the Vegetarian week promotion, our chefs received a mystery box filled with healthy ingredients for them to incorporate into their menus.
Just thinking about what we eat is always important, not just in January but throughout the year. However, what better time to enjoy a promotion like this and align it to our New Year resolutions!!
The innovation and creativity showcased by our onsite catering teams was, once again, outstanding.
Ten years ago, would we have been talking about boxed sushi in schools, or Greek Meze as a grab ’n go menu option?
The list of products offered to our students was very well received and many of these will now become part of our everyday menus.
See below for a list of our winning schools, and a brief montage highlighting the success of our 2 week promotion:
Best Grab & Go combined – The Westgate – Zoe’s combination of bento boxes and inventive wraps were hugely impressive.
Best Sweet treats – George Abbot – Andy’s beetroot brownie and protein.
Best Salad Bar – Very close to call, but Sue and the Bicester Learning Academy team triumphed with their rustic and seasonal simplicity.
And the big one… best main from the gantry – Sir William Borlase – Gus and his team really hit the brief with his Asian theme, particularly his char-sui pork and kale dish.
…and a “special prize” goes to Chatsmore School for a great all round contribution.
