sa_ffl_silvercatering_logo-optWe are delighted to announce that having attained Food for Life Bronze level only a few months ago, Wayne and the team at Ridgeway have now moved up to Silver level, an achievement that has required a great deal of hard work and dedication, and has further progressed the culture of the catering at the School.

To have progressed from Bronze in this timescale is no mean feat, and to achieve this, the team have had to incorporate organic, Fairtrade, and some local produce into their menu, incorporate “real” bread into the menu offer, and work even closer with the school on healthy eating and curriculum based programmes.

Headteacher James Povoas commented “a big well done to the team, this is an award that we are extremely proud of and it shows just how far the catering has progressed at Ridgeway” from the Innovate perspective, Karl Hudson, procurement Director added “The dedication shown by Wayne and the team has been the driving force behind this award, and from our part, it displays that Innovate now has an ethical and sustainable supply chain, and a set of principles which puts healthier eating at the heart of our culture, which could also in turn be applied to any of our schools that share these values”

What’s next? We may as well go for gold now…..watch this space!
